Day 1: Istanbul

You will be met by your guide at the Istanbul International Airport (IST) and transferred to your hotel. After checking into your hotel, you will have some time to relax.

Free leisure day afterwards. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2: Istanbul

After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby for your full-day tour of Old City Istanbul. Following a short drive across the Galata Bridge, we will drop off at the heart of the old city, walk the historic streets of Istanbul.

First, we will visit the Hippodrome; the central square that was once used as a horse racing arena during the Roman and Byzantine times. This square is home to some artifacts of the past, such as an Egyptian Obelisk, the Serpentine Column and the like.

The tour will continue with the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii), famous with its blue Iznik porcelain tiles and unique with 6 minarets, built in the name of Sultan Ahmed I by Sedefkar Mehmed Agha, who himself was a pupil of the very famous Mimar Sinan. It was intentionally built right across Hagia Sophia as a display of Ottoman splendour.

We will then head to the Topkapi Palace, a huge walled complex hugging the Bosporus, the former palace of the Ottoman Sultans that is now a museum with an extraordinary collection of Chinese porcelain, art, artifacts and jewels including the Topkapi Diamond, and relics from Prophet Muhammed (s.a.v.).

Following lunch, we will we will head towards the Grand Bazaar, the largest and the oldest covered market place in the world with more than 4,000 shops in the labyrinth of streets. Enjoy the colorful array of shops that offer an endless selection of goods that includes jewelry, fabrics, spices and local handicrafts. After all the visits, you will be transferred to your Hotel.

Day 3: Istanbul

Today, we will once again go to the Hippodrome to pick up from where we’ve left off that day. The day will continue with a visit of Hagia Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of Byzantine architecture built by Justinian, the once biggest dome and cathedral in the world, with its grand pillars from Ephesus. After the Conquest of Constantinople in 1453, this building was converted into a mosque, and stood as the biggest mosque in the world for quite some time. Currently, it stands as a museum.

Afterwards, we visit the the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts, containing a huge collection of items from the Islamic world. Especially interesting are the antique hand written Qur’ans, decorated in amazing works of calligraphy, and of course, some of the relics from the Prophet Mohammed (s.a.v.).

After the breakfast at your hotel, you will start the Istanbul Tour visiting St. Hagia Sophia Museum, which was originally built between 532 and 537 AD by the order of Byzantine Emperor Justinian. Hagia Sophia (one of the important architectural monuments in the world) was the third church to occupy the same site. First two Hagia Sophia’s went under fire during the revolts in this area. After Hagia Sophia (the Church of the Holy Wisdom) Museum we will the Basilica Cistern (Underground Cistern with 336 columns inside), next. Then we will go to the Topkapi Palace which is one of the largest palace museums of the world today. Topkapi Palace served for almost 400 years to Ottoman Sultans. Then we will go to the Egyptian Bazaar, one of the famous covered bazaars of Istanbul.

The final two stops will be Rustem Pasha Mosque from the 16th century which is famous with well-decorated Iznik Ottoman Tiles, and the Eyup Sultan Mosque. This place is believed to be where Ayyub Al Ansari, the flagbearer of the Prophet’s army which sieged Constantinople, was burried after he became a shaheed. The burial site was found by Mehmet the 2nd (Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror) after his conquest of Constantinople and turned into a mausoleum, with a mosque dedicated to it. It’s one of the holiest places in Islam.

Day 4: Istanbul – Edirne

Today after the breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the second Capital of Ottoman Empire, one of the most historical cities in Turkey; Edirne (with the earlier name Hadrianapolis). Edirne is full of Ottoman buildings which are still erected today. Edirne tour will surprise you with all these.

Edirne tour covers; Balkan Wars Museum, a bastion, a monument and grave of Sukru Pasha, Bucuk Tepe (the Half Hill), Selimiye Mosque, Arasta, the Old Mosque (Eski Cami), Mosque with Tree Balconies (Uc Serefeli Cami), Bedesten, Turkish Bath and Macedonian Clock Tower, Ali Pasha Covered Bazaar, the Health Museum in the complex of Sultan Bayezid II., Sarayici where the old Ottoman Palace was located as well. We will see one of the gates, Ottoman Bath, Kitchen, Justice Tower (from the period of Sultan Suleyman the Magnificient), and the other ruins of the palace, the Tunca River, The Meric River, Kirkpinar Oil Wrestling Tournament Stadium, Monument of Lausanne Peace Agreement and many Ottoman Bridges. Day 5: Istanbul – Bursa

After the breakfast at our hotel we will we will drive to Bursa. Bursa is the first Capital of Ottoman Empire. Bursa tour covers; the Grand Mosque(Ulu Cami), Kozahan (Historical Old Cocoon Bazaar), The Green Mosque and the Green Mausoleum, Tophane where we can meet a panoramic view of Bursa and there we will also see the tomb of the founders of Ottoman Empire, Cumalikizik Village; an original old Ottoman village from the earlies of Ottoman period. We will have a walk in Cumalikizik Village and turn back to Istanbul. Overnight in Istanbul. (Breakfast)

Day 6: Istanbul - Departure

Following check-out from your hotel, we will arrange for transfer to the Istanbul Ataturk International Airport for your return or onward flight. (Breakfast)
